About the Work
The Mandalas
The Mandala work is primarily interested in studying the structures, patterns and metaphors revealed from the interactions of geometry & light.
Within a digital three dimensional environment, I combine simple shapes which are given simulated physical characteristics such as glass, metal, etc. into patterns. Light is then brought within, behind or outside of the structure.
The resulting combination of refractions, reflections & shadows produce the initial image. Because the simulations of physical characteristics are an accurate analog of the actual physics of the materials used, tweaking the various adjustments in the smallest amount can result in radically different images.
The choices of which combinations to pursue are based on an aesthetic which seeks to approximate the perfection and beauty which informs nature.
A symbol of the Grand Mystery in which we are embedded.
